On Thursday, August 13, 2015, Commissioner MaryEllen Elia announced that she was assigning a monitoring team to the East Ramapo School District.  The team will be led by former New York City Department of Education Chancellor Dennis Walcott and include REACH's President and CEO, Dr. Monica George-Fields and Dr. John Sipple of Cornell University as fiscal expert.

Monica states, "I am thrilled to receive this special assignment from the New York State Education Department's Commissioner. It is with great pleasure that I join this dynamic team and work on behalf of the students and families of East Ramapo.  I am confident that my 28 years of educational experience and commitment to providing every child a quality education will assist in ascertaining the strategies for remedying the community's current concerns."  Although Monica will be present in the East Ramapo School District two-three days a week, she will continue to provide personal face-to-face coaching and professional development to other districts that have contracts with REACH.  "I knew that we were hiring the best support for our schools.  Now, the Commissioner has come to the same conclusion.  We are fortunate to have a contract with REACH," stated one school district leader.

The REACH team will soon close the doors to accepting additional contracts for the 2015-2016 school year, but Monica stressed that there are plenty of opportunities for school staff members to benefit from REACH's yearlong schedule of conferences and seminars.  "These conferences will be great and will specifically target school staff who support principals; such as parent coordinators, assistant principals, school leadership teams, and teacher leaders.  We strongly encourage principals to begin to register their staff members to participate in the sessions. "  For more information, visit the Reimagine University page.
